The Glamorous Life 2: All That Glitters Isn’t Gold

Even before Shelly, their mother in name only, abandoned them, fourteen years old Calliope already knew if she and her ten years old brother Compton were to survive, they needed to rely on no one but themselves. Once Shelly drops out of her children’s lives, their grandmother gives them shelter, but the siblings must feed and clothe themselves. Calliope turns to stealing and stripping while Compton sells drugs.

Just freed from incarceration, Lynx and his faithful woman, Bambi, look forward to starting over. However, Lynx struggles with a gambling addiction that if not stopped will end his relationship with Bambi, but not before destroying both of them. When Lynx and Calliope meet, both finds a motivator to clean up their act hopefully before it is too late for them and their loved ones.

The Glamorous Life 2 is an engaging street lit tale as the key cast learns the hard way and seemingly too late that All That Glitters Isn’t Gold. The two females and the ex con who connects them are fully developed so that the reader understands what each faces to make it. Although the middle chapters feel somewhat bloated, fans will enjoy Bambi’s return engagement (see The Glamorous Life).
